Update: akku,AC Adapter HP ProBook 4420s Die im Vorfeld beobachteten Probleme bei der automatischen Drosselung der CPU-Taktfrequenz bei den neuen Ivy Bridge Prozessoren lässt in Hinsicht Energieverbrauch/akku,AC Adapterlaufzeit keine aussagekräftigen Rückschlüsse zu. Schenker Notebooks bemüht sich zur Zeit um ein BIOS-Update, mit dem diese Problematik behoben werden sollte.

Wie schon der Vorgänger integriert auch das neue Schenker XMG P502 PRO einen großen 77-Wh-akku,AC Adapter. Das muss auch so sein, denn angesichts der zuvor beobachteten Verbrauchswerte sind vom P502 keine Laufzeitwunder zu erwarten. akku,AC Adapter HP ProBook 4421s

Dennoch, im standardisierten BatteryEater-Readers-Test, akku,AC Adapter HP ProBook 4425s stellvertretend für die maximal zu erwartende akku,AC Adapterlaufzeit (Energiesparprofil, min. Displayhelligkeit, Funkmodule aus), erreichen wir 5.5 Stunden. Ähnlich gut fällt das Ergebnis auch beim praxisnahen Websurfen (inkl. HD-Videowiedergabe) aus (Display 150 cd/m², Profil ausgeglichen, WLAN ein): 261 Minuten, also etwas mehr als 4 Stunden. sofern nicht benötigt, und zum anderen auf Intels i7-Quadcore-CPU, PA3384U-1BRS die bei geringer Office-Last gemütlich mit 800 MHz vor sich hin tuckert.
Aber wehe dem, der den schlafenden Wolf weckt: Unter Last sind diese Zeiten mit Abstand nicht zu erreichen (96 Minuten), und selbst dabei steht nur ein Bruchteil der Leistung zur Verfügung, die im Netzbetrieb abrufbar ist. Ein 3DMark 2006 im akku,AC Adapterbetrieb (Profil Höchstleistung) brachte etwa lediglich 3584 Punkte, das sind gerade einmal knapp 20 % der Netzleistung.

Höchstleistung in 15 Zoll: Schenker akku,AC Adapter Dell Latitude 110L XMG P502 PRO
Blicken wir auf das Resümee des Vorgängers P501 zurück, so können wir dieses praktisch im selben Wortlaut auch für das neue Schenker XMG P502 PRO übernehmen. Wir finden abermals ein schlichtes Kunststoffgehäuse vor, das nunmehr aber mit einer beleuchteten Tastatur aufwarten kann. Gefallen finden wir an den umfangreichen Konfigurationsmöglichkeiten, womit das P502 optimal an die individuellen Bedürfnisse angepasst werden kann.

Eine Verbesserung im Vergleich zum Vorgänger hat sich teilweise beim Display ergeben: akku,AC Adapter Dell Inspiron 1100

Die von uns getestete matte Variante löst mit 1920 x 1080 Pixel akku,AC Adapter Fujitsu Stylistic LT P-600T auf und kann mit einer maximalen Helligkeit von hohen 365 Candela bei einem Schwarzwert von 0.83 cd/m² einen guten Kontrast von 440:1 bieten. Von störenden Spiegelungen bleibt man so stets verschont, und auch die möglichen Blickwinkel des Panels können sich sehen lassen.

Um die maximale Temperatur der Komponenten zu ermitteln, haben wir das Notebook für eine Weile mit den Tools Furmark und Prime beschäftigt. Ergebnis: Laut dem CPUID Hardware Monitor pendelt sich Intels Dual-Core auf passable 80 °C ein. Rund 70°C bei der Grafikkarte gehen auch in Ordnung. Ein Throttling, also ein temperaturbedingtes Heruntertakten, konnten wir nicht beobachten – super.HP FN04

Allerdings werden die Gehäuseoberflächen bei Belastung überdurchschnittlich warm. Maximal 42 °C im WASD-Bereich sind auf Dauer etwas unangenehm. Die Handballenauflage kommt mit knapp 40 °C ebenfalls auf eine recht hohe Temperatur. Im Idle-Betrieb ist die Lage wesentlich entspannter. An die klanglichen Qualitäten eines Asus N75SF oder Dell XPS 17 kann das Packard Bell nicht ansatzweise heranreichen. Die beiden Lautsprecher (oberhalb der Tastatur unter einem feinen Gitter) machten auf uns einen dumpfen und kraftlosen Eindruck. Das geringe Volumen, der schwache Bass und die fransigen Stimmen sind nur einige der Negativ-Merkmale. Hinzu kommt eine enttäuschende Lautstärke.HP Mini 1103 Series Akku

Ergo: Für häufigeren Medienkonsum empfehlen sich Kopfhörer oder eine externe Anlage. Packard Bell hätte zumindest die Dolby-Technologie integrieren können, wie sie der Mutterkonzern Acer bei manchen Geräten verwendet.HP 614564-751

Durch moderne Grafikumschaltungen und Optimierungen beim Energiemanagement verbrauchen aktuelle Notebooks, trotz besserer Leistung,HP 614565-721 oft weniger Storm als ihre Vorgänger. Packard Bells 17-Zoll-Reihe belegt diesen Trend besonders gut. Während das mit einem Core i5-2410M und einer Radeon HD 6650M ausgestattete LS11HR-050GE im Idle-Betrieb auf rund 14-21 Watt kommt (kein GPU-Switch), genehmigt sich das LS11HR-167GE lediglich 9-14 Watt. Der Last-Verbrauch ist mit 43 / 46 Watt (3DMark 06) bzw. 76 / 84 Watt (Stresstest) hingegen ähnlich.HP ED03

Da Packard Bell einen relativ schwachen 6-Zellen-Akku gewählt hat (48 Wh), können die Laufzeiten nicht durchgehend begeistern. Im ungünstigsten Fall (starke Last bei maximaler Helligkeit) ist der Akku bereits nach einer Stunde leer. HP ED06

Anspruchslosere Aufgaben bewältigt das Multimedia-Notebook deutlich länger. Mit deaktivierter Radeon-Grafikkarte lief unsere Test-DVD ca. drei Stunden. Packard Bell EasyNote LS11HR-167GEDas EasyNote LS11HR-167GE punktet vor allem mit einem tollen Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Für knapp 700 Euro bekommt der Käufer nicht nur acht GByte Arbeitsspeicher und zwei 500 GByte große Festplatten, sondern auch potente Mittelklasse-Hardware geboten.HP ED06DF

Intels zweikerniger Sandy-Bridge-Prozessor (Core i5-2450M) hat mit den meisten Anwendungen keinerlei Probleme. Die DirectX 11 fähige Grafikkarte von AMD (Radeon HD 7670M) ergänzt den Dual-Core optimal, bei vielseitig orientierten Nutzern dürften kaum Wünsche offen bleiben. Jedoch hapert es mal wieder an der Bild- und Tonqualität. Ein derart kontrastschwaches, blickwinkelabhängiges und reflektierendes Panel hat selbst in einem billigen Gerät nichts verloren. Die beiden Lautsprecher sorgen auch nicht gerade für Jubelstürme. Dazu gesellt sich eine magere Anschlussausstattung. Im Jahr 2012 kann man doch wohl einen USB-3.0-Port erwarten, oder? Wer ein preislich attraktives und leistungsfähiges Multimedia-Notebook sucht, darf dem EasyNote LS11HR-167GE dennoch eine Chance geben. Hochwertigere 17-Zöller wie das HP Pavilion dv7-6b02eg kosten gleich ein paar 100 Euro mehr.HP HSTNN-F05C

Lauf Notebook, lauf! Leicht und mobil lautet die Devise, und das nicht nur bei den Ultrabooks. Asus verspricht mit dem U56E einen leistungsstarken Dauerläufer, der den Office-Bereich gehörig aufwirbeln soll. Reicht dies, um einen Kaufpreis von über 700 Euro zu rechtfertigen?HP HSTNN-IB1X

10 Stunden Akkulaufzeit – dabei kann es sich doch nur um ein Netbook handeln? Keineswegs! Mit dem Asus U56E tritt ein einfaches Office-Notebook an, neue Mobilitätsrekorde aufzustellen. Ultradünn, leicht und ausdauernd – diese Prädikate sollen nun auch die 15,6-Zoll-Klasse erobern.HP HSTNN-LB1X

Bei der Ausstattung gibt es wenig Überraschendes zu sehen: Ein Core i5-2430M, 4 Gigabyte Arbeitsspeicher und eine 500 Gigabyte große Festplatte sind lediglich gute Durchschnittskost. Umso selbstbewusster ist der Kaufpreis von etwa 730 Euro, HP HSTNN-LB1Z während ähnlich ausgestattete Konkurrenten wie das Samsung E3520 bereits ab 500 Euro erhältlich sind. Damit ist das U56E kaum günstiger als Acers Ultrabook Aspire S3, auch wenn dieses als 13,3-Zoll-Gerät einen leicht abweichenden Kundenkreis anspricht.

Überhaupt ist es schwer, direkt vergleichbare Modelle zu finden, die sowohl in Formfaktor als auch Mobilität dem Kandidaten von Asus entsprechen. Eines dieser Notebooks könnte das Toshiba Satellite R850 sein, welches von uns allerdings in einer deutlich hochwertigeren Ausstattungslinie mit dedizierter AMD-Grafikkarte getestet wurde. Eine mit dem U56E-XX028V weitgehend identische Konfiguration ist ab etwa 680 Euro erhältlich.HP HSTNN-XA18

Ob Asus neben der Mobilität auch klassische Office-Merkmale wie die Qualität der Eingabegeräte nicht vergessen hat? Dies wollen wir im nun nachfolgenden Test ausführlich untersuchen.HP HSTNN-XB1X

Die Verarbeitungsqualität ist nur guter Durchschnitt.HP HSTNN-XB1Y Robustes und elegantes Aluminium – so wirbt der Hersteller mit einem Sticker auf dem Notebook. Zumindest bei äußerlicher Betrachtung ist dieses Versprechen nur zum Teil korrekt, denn viele Oberflächen, mit Ausnahme des gebürsteten Displaydeckels und einer dünnen Platte unter der Tastatur, bestehen aus gewöhnlichem Kunststoff. Die Farbgebung reicht von silbrig-grauer Metalliclackierung bis hin zu einer matt-schwarzen Handballenauflage, die mit einer leichten Gummierung überzogen wurde. Das U56E macht damit einen eher biederen, aber wertigen Gesamteindruck.HP HSTNN-XB1Z

Auch die Angabe der Gehäusedicke von einem Zoll, umgerechnet also gut 2,5 Zentimetern, gilt nur mit Einschränkungen. Der voluminöse 74-Wh-Akku ragt nach unten aus dem Chassis heraus und hebt das Notebook an der Rückseite um mehr als einen Zentimeter an. In Verbindung mit einem Gewicht von etwa 2,5 Kilogramm schränkt dies die auf den ersten Blick hohe Mobilität doch merklich ein.HP HSTNN-XB2C WY164AA

Die Stabilität sowie Verarbeitungsqualität bewegen sich auf einem durchschnittlichen Niveau. HP Mini 100e Series Akku Insbesondere über dem DVD-Laufwerk sowie unter der Tastatur kann man das Gehäuse bei Druck leicht verformen, wobei gelegentlich auch ein leises Knacken zu vernehmen ist. Das von straffen Scharnieren gehaltene Display kann nur beidhändig geöffnet werden, wippt bei Erschütterungen aber dennoch mehrere Sekunden nach. Auch wenn die Verwindungssteifigkeit besser als bei vielen Konkurrenten ausfällt, sollte man den Deckel besser mittig und mit vorsichtigem Griff betätigen: Schon eine leichte Berührung mit dem Finger am Displayrahmen genügt, um die Flüssigkristalle des angrenzenden Panels zu beeinflussen und den Bildinhalt zu verfälschen. Das erst vor wenigen Wochen getestete Samsung E3520 kann trotz seines deutlich günstigeren Preises problemlos mit dem U56E mithalten. HP 609881-351 Asus zollt hier den Bemühungen Tribut, eine möglichst geringe Bauhöhe des Notebooks zu erreichen. Abhilfe würde dabei der noch intensivere, aber kostspielige Einsatz von gleichermaßen leichten wie stabilen Metallen bieten, beispielsweise Aluminium oder Magnesium. Bereits seit Jahren ein Vorbild ist dabei das Unibody-Gehäuse der MacBook-Reihe von Apple, welches aus einem einzigen Block Aluminium herausgefräst wird.HP 611708-001

USB 3.0 ist vorhanden.Die Schnittstellenausstattung des U56E deckt alle alltäglichen Bedürfnisse ab, HP HSTNN-XXXX ohne dabei jedoch mit besonderen Extras zu punkten. Ein USB-3.0- sowie zwei USB-2.0-Ports sollten in den meisten Fällen ausreichen, um zusätzliche Peripherie anzuschließen. Weiterhin stehen sowohl HDMI als auch VGA für die Ansteuerung externer Monitore oder Projektoren zur Verfügung. Leider ist die Grafikeinheit der Sandy-Bridge-Prozessoren nicht in der Lage, zeitgleich beide Ausgänge sowie das Notebook-Display zu betreiben – erst die kommende Ivy-Bridge-Generation soll dies ermöglichen. Nur am Rande erwähnen wollen wir die obligatorischen Anschlüsse für GBit-LAN, Kensington Lock sowie Kopfhörer und Mikrofon. Gemessen am Aufpreis zu anderen Office-Notebooks fehlt uns ein gewisser Mehrwert, den beispielsweise eSATA, DisplayPort oder gar die neue Thunderbolt-Schnittstelle bieten könnten. Bei der Verteilung der Anschlüsse hat Asus vieles gut, manches aber auch weniger optimal gelöst. HP TouchSmart tm2t Akku Der an der Vorderfront platzierte 4-in-1 Kartenleser (SD/MMC/MS/MS Pro) ist ebenso leicht erreichbar wie die auf der linken und rechten Seite verteilten USB-Ports. Besonders ausladende USB-Sticks können jedoch unter Umständen dazu führen, dass die benachbarten Schnittstellen blockiert werden und somit verloren gehen. Ebenfalls ungünstig sind die sehr weit nach vorne verlagerten Displayausgänge: Besser wäre hier eine Platzierung auf der Rückseite, um die Kabel außerhalb der Arbeitsfläche des Nutzers zu halten. OutdoorsUnfortunately, this positive effect is reversed when the notebook is used outdoors. Evident reflections characterize the representation; the displayed content even becomes absolutely illegible in direct sunlight. A stronger backlight of over 250, better yet 300 cd/m2, would remedy this. In the ideal case, the display surface would also be anti-reflective, like in the Samsung E3520, for example. Viewing angles: Asus U56E-XX028V Our regular readers will have already guessed it: The low-end TN screen’s viewing angle stability isn’t impressive, either. The inclination angle of the display hinges have to be adjusted precisely up to a few degrees in order to prevent falsifications in contrast or color reproduction. The horizontal dependency isn’t quite as strong. Nevertheless, not more than two or three people can look at the screen at the same time without experiencing restrictions. Thus, users who decide to connect an external monitor are well advised with both the HDMI and VGA port. A high quality analog signal is not a matter of course, as we had to find out again recently. ( Battery for Toshiba PABAS231 )

Turbo Boost 2.0 with up to 3.0 GHzEven if the next Intel generation, called Ivy Bridge, is slowly emerging at the horizon, the installed Core i5-2430M of the Sandy Bridge architecture isn’t yet an old hat. The midrange dual core generates enough power for almost all applications thanks to Turbo Boost 2.0, which can clock up to 3.0 GHz (base clock 2.4 GHz), SMT technology for simultaneously processing up to 4 threads and excellent MHz performance. The TDP of the entire chip remains at an acceptable level of 35 watts. A feature worth mentioning is that the i5-2430M also supports the encryption acceleration, AES-NI, unlike the previous Core i5-2410M model. A DirectX 10.1 capable graphics unit, called HD Graphics 3000, is integrated into the processor. Even if it doesn’t set up any new records, despite considerable improvements compared to the older generation, an occasional game in low settings is well possible. Alike the processor clock, the base rate of 650 MHz can be increased up to 1200 MHz via Turbo Boost. Of course, video playback is also accelerated in all significant formats. Asus could have been a bit more generous with the memory capacity. ( Battery for Toshiba PA3692U-1BRS ) Both the 500 gigabyte hard disk and the 4 gigabyte RAM seem rather more appropriate for low-priced entry level models. Both components can easily be upgraded via a maintenance cover on the bottom, though. An empty DIMM slot facilitates the memory expansion. The CPU even supports 8 gigabyte modules theoretically; but we can’t verify if they would be addressed by the mainboard and BIOS without difficulties. ( Battery for Toshiba PA3692U-1BAS )

A fully exploited Turbo mode, no restrictions whatever on battery power: ( Battery for Toshiba pa-3479u-1brs )The U56E is configured exemplarily and achieves the performance expected from the Core i5-2430M. With 4761 points in Cinebench R10 (64bit, single thread) and a score of 2.67 points in the latest Cinebench R11.5 (64bit, multi thread), the processor doesn’t stand out much from its precursor, the i5-2410M that has a 100 MHz lower clock rate. A quad core, such as the i7-2670QM, would be needed for a considerably higher performance. It provides almost twice as much computing power in full load situations. However, there are only a few applications, like demanding picture or video editing programs, which would benefit significantly from a faster CPU in routine use. The processor that Asus has selected is a sensible compromise between performance, price and power consumption. ( Battery for Toshiba PA3640U-1BRS )

The U56E uses a conventional hard disk with a capacity of 500 gigabytes as its mass memory. The disk from Hitachi (HTS547550A9E384) rotates with a speed of 5400 rpm and has an 8 megabyte cache. ( Battery for Toshiba PABAS121 )

The data doesn’t let us anticipate high performance in the transfer rates. A benchmark with the program, HDTune, reveals an average read speed of 62.2 MB/s. Thus, the data carrier can only place itself in the lower midfield. The Samsung HM321HI in the E3520 works faster with 70 MB/s; hard disks with 7200 rpm, like in the HP ProBook 4530s, provide even much better rates. ( Battery for Toshiba PA3640U-1BAS )

The access speed of 18.9 milliseconds could be improved significantly by using an SSD. However, the manufacturer doesn’t offer one. Users willing to accept the high price and lower memory capacity can achieve a noticeable speed increase by installing a fast model.( Battery for Toshiba PA3594U-1BAS )

The U56E ranges within the scope of the built-in hardware’s possibilities with 5674, respectively 2039 points in PCMark Vantage and PCMark 7. It’s particularly the slow working hard disk that prevents better results here. ( Battery for Toshiba PA3594U-1BRS )

The load times also occasionally test the user’s patience in practical use. To be fair, we have to note that this problem can be observed in every notebook that doesn’t have an SSD. It’s possible to work quickly and smoothly after the operating system has booted and the selected programs have been opened. ( Battery for Toshiba PABAS110 )

The Intel HD Graphics 3000 probably belongs to one of the most frequently tested graphics cards in our test lab. The processor integrated chip achieves the expected performance in all synthetic benchmarks without irregularities – both in AC mode as well as on battery power. The performance range only suffices lowest requirements. Entry level models from the dedicated sector – the Radeon HD 6490M for example – can partly break away here by 50 to 100 percent. Typing is comfortably silent without clattering. We were also pleased by the user-friendly point of pressure. Furthermore, many hot keys are provided, some of them twice, to be accessible also in tablet mode.Toshiba PABAS218 chargerThe most striking hot key is the ThinkVantage button, which can be used to invoke a menu covering a number of Lenovo specific tools. It provides, e.g., help for networking, data security, and a number of settings. However, we were most interested in the pen, because we were not used to using the X61 tablet by pen on the display. The X61 tablet recognizes the pen already, if it is still 2 cm off the display, and marks this by a small circle. Clicking with the button at the pen’s side is equivalent to a right mouse click.Toshiba PABAS219 charger Navigating is alright, but, the point marked at the display is about 1mm moved to the right. Furthermore, we sometimes received the impression, that the track point only reacts slowly.

Therefore, we felt that the track point combined with the keyboard is the best input alternative. But, the pen is better for notes, drawings, and drafts, even more, because it recognizes a number of different pressure levels.Toshiba PABAS220 charger

Color DiagramThe X61 Tablet is equipped with a 12.1″ display with a maximum resolution of 1024×768 pixels. It captivates by a very good stability to the vantage point and gets only fuzzy at extremely acute angles. The brightness is just sufficient for outdoor usage, but, reading the display gets cumbersome in the sun. Toshiba PA3535U-1BAS charger

Although we first thought, that the display’s resolution is low, we soon understood this decision of the designers. A higher resolution would have made navigating and precisely positioning the pen difficult. The color diagram depicts a nearly ideal red and blue color curve, and a lowered green color curve. The measured minimum brightness of the display (black value) amounted to 0.3 cd/m² and gives together with the maximum brightness of 119.1 cd/m² a maximum contrast of 397:1. While black value and contrast are very good, we were a little bit underwhelmed by the maximum brightness, even it was subjectively better. Toshiba PABAS216 charger We could not detect any anomalies regarding speed of reaction. The display of X61 Tablet surprised us with automatic dimming in battery mode. However, it can be disabled by BIOS settings.

It was pretty clear that the X61 Tablet won’t provide outstanding performance. However, the Intel Core 2 Duo L7500 with 1.6 Ghz and Intel’s integrated video solution, an Intel GMA 950, are too weak.Toshiba PA3634U-1BAS chargerHowever, 2 GB main memory kept hope alive that at least office performance is alright. Finally, it turned out, that the performance is actually sufficient for office work under Windows Vista. As pure office notebook, this Tablet PC is, in the reviewed configuration with best available equipment, quite alright.

The screen mounts to the main body of the notebook via two sturdy hinges, and is protected at the contact points by rubber spacers. On the inside, the laptop features brushed metal again, this time in languid lavender, with accents of orange, black and white on the keyboard. All the attractive colors and textures aside, let’s not confuse ourselves here, folks; the Lenovo IdeaPad Y570 is a big, bruising hulk of a notebook, at a hefty 5.95 pounds – and the rigidity of the case doesn’t disappoint. No flex in the screen or keyboard can be detected, even with rather violent applications of force toward the usual failure points. We have to note here that Lenovo took a poor design choice regarding port placement. If there’s any complaint we have with Lenovo’s connection design, it’s a general one that we’d aim at plenty of other laptop manufacturers; folks, give a little bit more distance between the Kensington lock slot and other ports on the laptop! In the case of the Y570, the lock slot is dangerously close to the power jack, Toshiba PA3757U-1BRS chargerand while it probably isn’t a problem for most users, we’ve seen our share of large and bulky computer locks, and more than a few of them wouldn’t be able to connect simultaneously with an AC adapter.

The IdeaPad Y570 possesses the usual assortment of networking options. RJ-45 connectivity is powered by the Broadcom NetLink Gigabit Ethernet NIC, rated for 10/100/1000 Mbit/s communication speed, while the wireless connection is served by Intel’s WiFi link 1000 BGN, which is rated for 300 Mbps throughput. In hindsight, the loadout of Lenovo software of questionable utility isn’t too bad when compared to recent offerings from, say, ASUS. But it’s far from acceptable, especially given that most of these utilities cramp productivity and can be replaced by free, more capable, easier-to-use software. Our suggestion? When we streamed an HD trailer for The Avengers, images were extremely sharp and colors such as the blue in Captain America’s costume and red in Thor’s cape really popped. Colors remained vibrant even at 180-degree viewing angles and with the screen titled way back. At full brightness, the Thrive’s screen measured an impressive 355 lux on our light meter. The stereo speakers on the Thrive 7-inch produced reasonably accurate sound that’s loud enough to hear across a small room, though the audio was a bit flat. When we streamed Patrice Rushen’s bass-heavy “Forget Me Nots” from Rhapsody and Alice Cooper’s “School’s Out” from Slacker, the music was accurate and free of distortion and tininess. However, because the speakers are mounted on the left short side, it’s easy to accidentally cover them when holding the Thrive in landscape mode.acer al10g31

With its dual-core 1-GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 CPU and 1GB of RAM, the Thrive 7-inch packs plenty of power. In our testing, the tablet was more than capable of delivering eye-popping graphics on intense 3D games such as Need for Speed Shift and Riptide GP. Playing high-quality videos, surfing the web, and taking pictures were also no problem. Like all Android tablets we’ve tested, the Thrive 7-inch suffered from occasional moments of lag when we tried to move from one task to another too quickly, but these moments were fewer than on most other tablets we’ve used.Acer UM09G31

The Thrive 7-inch performed well on all the synthetic benchmarks we threw at it. On the Benchmark CPU test, it scored a strong 3,008, well above the tablet category average of 2,680 and about on par with the Tegra 2-powered Acer Iconia Tab A100′s score of 3018. The Toshiba was just a tiny bit behind the Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet (3,056) and the Amazon Kindle Fire (3,069), both of which use 1-GHz TI OMAP 4 processors. The Thrive 7-inch scored a respectable 7,635 on An3DBench, which measures graphics prowess, far better than the 7,156 tablet category average, the 7,006 provided by the Kindle Fire, and the 7,120 offered by the Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus turned in a higher 7,899, and the Acer Iconia Tab A100 scored 8,081. However, both of those tablets have lower-resolution screens than the Thrive 7-inch.Acer UM09G51

The Toshiba Thrive 7-inch lasted a mediocre time of 5 hours and 18 minutes on the LAPTOP Battery Test, which involves continuous web surfing over Wi-Fi at 40-percent brightness. That time is well behind the tablet category average of 6 hours and 42 minutes, the Kindle Fire’s time of 7:34, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus’ time of 7:18.Acer UM09H31

The battery life seems very weak, but in fairness, other notebooks with the same battery capacity cannot do much better either. When the machine is in idle with nothing to do, and all energy-saving options are enabled (brightness on the lowest setting, wireless off), the idle energy consumption is 11.4 Watts. Anyone who appreciates a good range of ports will be pleased to find an ExpressCard34 slot and an HDMI port along with the USBs. It is also good to see that most ports have been positioned on the back edge of the machine. The notebook’s downsides start with the workmanship and finish with the keyboard. You can’t escape that plasticky feel with the CR620, mainly because several pieces are not quite accurately cut and some cables can become visible. Office users may be able to overlook this given time, but not the rattly keys and the poor touchpad feedback. The keyboard flexes, some of the keys are tiny and the touchpad keys have virtually no travel. If you type a lot, we simply cannot recommend this machine for you. Acer Aspire 5633WLMi Battery

After two and a half hours the really quite chunky 15.6-inch machine has to return to a power socket. Is a lame office box hidden beneath the pretty glossy design, or rather a high-performing, of a handy 13.3 incher? The chrome-colored plastic of the sides surrounds the 13.3-incher and highlights the connection ports. Most notebooks tend to have simple black plastic here, as they aim to minimize the visual emphasis on the open spaces of the ports as much as possible. The Pavilion on the other hand has no problem with this and proudly shows off what it offers. The high-gloss finish might not be to everyone’s taste. Fingerprints and, after a while, dust become visible across the entire surface, even on the slightly shiny keys. The roundish impression suggests great stability, and this impression is confirmed. We could very slightly bend the base unit by holding the corners of the palm rest with both hands. By adding pressure, we could only dent the surface of the lid a bit in the middle. The very firm hinges carry on this good impression. They hold the heavy lid firmly in place, which is especially desirable considering the touch feature. In addition to three USB 2.0 ports, one of which is combined with eSATA, we found the bulk of connections on the right side of the case. Writing with the keyboard is halfway pleasant. It sits firmly and bends only under excessive pressure over the optical drive. The keys have a clear pressure point, a good hub and a solid but slightly dull stroke. The typing feel is purposeful thanks to the generous keyboard layout and the pressure points give good feedback. Even the much criticized arrow keys on notebooks seem very large. The only drawback in typing is posed by the smooth surface of the keys. The mouse control on the smooth mousepad works quite accurately, but the feel isn’t for everyone. Because the silver, patterned surface is mirror smooth, the surface gets quite greasy. If one exaggerates a bit, you get the impression that a tub of Nivea has been smeared all over it. Unfortunately, the equally smooth and shiny buttons continue this trend. We quickly came to terms with the finger input function and not even a fine-tuning (sensitivity, accuracy) was necessary. Even a very delicate touch of the buttons or a light double tap is enough to perform click/double-clicking. Whoever might want to use a Stylus Pen or a blunt pencil for input will be disappointed. We were able to install and carry out all the benchmarks and analysis tools using finger touch (except for games). Text input appeared on the screen. This is handled by Windows 7 with the onscreen keyboard. As soon as a box is touched, for example, the URL bar in the browser will open a small key icon which then opens the on-screen input function. The dv3 disappointed fans of brilliant colors and high contrasts with its black level of 1.21 at maximum brightness. The contrast is calculated at only 150:1, a very low value. Black therefore has an understated gray appearance; colors don’t radiate particularly well. Doch zurück zum Thema: Die hervorragende Optik erkauft sich Battlefield 3 mit deftigen Hardwareanforderungen. Die Formel 1-Referenz F1 2011 verlangt dem Chronos 700Z5A nicht ganz so viel ab. Während eine Kombination aus hohen Details, zweifachem Antialiasing und 1366×768 Bildpunkten mit 29 fps noch etwas ruckelte, wurden mittlere Details und 1024×768 Pixel sehr flüssig dargestellt (48 fps). Trotz der eher zweitklassigen Optik sehnt sich Deus Ex 3 nach einer potenten Grafikkarte. Wer die Auflösung auf 1366×768 reduziert (das Display interpoliert recht ordentlich),Akku Compaq Presario CQ40 darf den Ego-Shooter mit Edge-AA, vierfacher Texturfilterung, mittleren Details und aktiviertem DirectX 11 genießen (39.3 fps). Technisch anspruchslose Titel wie Fifa 12 locken die Radeon HD 6750M nicht aus der Reserve. Gelegenheitsspieler, die kein Problem damit haben, auch mal in mittleren Details und verringerter Auflösung zu zocken, dürften mit der Radeon HD 6750M wahrscheinlich glücklich werden. Wer um die Geräuschkulisse bangt, darf zumindest teilweise aufatmen. So hört man im Idle-Betrieb primär die Festplatte, die ein konstantes, aber keineswegs störendes Rauschen von sich gibt. Die Temperaturen sind ebenfalls durchschnittlich. Im Gaming-Betrieb konnten wir vor allem eine Erwärmung des Lüfterareals feststellen: Maximal 42 °C auf der Ober- und maximal 43 °C auf der Unterseite wären auf Dauer nicht gerade angenehm. Eine hohe Stromrechnung müssen Sie beim Chronos 700Z5A nicht befürchten. Dank der automatischen Grafikumschaltung genehmigt sich der 15-Zöller im Idle-Betrieb nur rund 15 Watt. Wenn das Notebook weniger stark belastet wird, erhöht sich die Laufzeit massiv. Die Wiedergabe einer DVD ist mit moderaten Stromsparmechanismen und maximaler Displayhelligkeit für rund fünf Stunden möglich. Drahtlos im Internet surfen konnten wir für ungefähr sechs Stunden. Samsung 700Z5A-S01DEUnserer Ansicht nach kann Samsung das Chronos 700Z5A als Erfolg verbuchen. Die ungewöhnliche Mischung aus leistungsfähigen Komponenten und flacher Bauweise findet man bei der Konkurrenz extrem selten.
